Simultaneous Laparoscopy-Assisted Resection for Rectal and Gastric Cancer
نویسندگان
چکیده
Laparoscopy-assisted surgery for either rectal or gastric cancer has been increasingly performed. However, simultaneous laparoscopy-assisted resection for synchronous rectal and gastric cancer is rarely reported in the literature. In our study, 3 cases of patients who received simultaneous laparoscopy-assisted resection for synchronous rectal and gastric cancer were recorded. The results showed that all 3 patients recovered well, with only 253 minutes of mean operation time, 57 mL of intraoperative blood loss, 5 cm of assisted operation incision, 4 days to resume oral intake, 12 days' postoperative hospital stay, and no complication or mortality. No recurrence or metastasis was found within the follow-up period of 22 months. When performed by surgeons with plentiful experience in laparoscopic technology, simultaneous laparoscopy-assisted resection for synchronous rectal and gastric cancer is safe and feasible, with the benefits of minimal trauma, fast recovery, and better cosmetic results, compared with open surgery.

OBJECTIVE To evaluate the feasibility of laparoscopy assisted total mesorectal excision (TME) for rectal cancer. METHOD From March 2000 to November 2003,67 patients with rectal cancer received laparoscopy assisted TME,in whom 45 cases received anterior resection (AR),and 22 cases received abdominal perineal resection (APR). RESULTS The operation was performed according to the rules of TME. ...
متن کاملSynchronous Adenocarcinoma and Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumor of the Stomach Treated by a Combination of Laparoscopy-assisted Distal Gastrectomy and Wedge Resection
The simultaneous occurrence of a gastrointestinal stromal tumor (GIST) and a gastric adenocarcinoma is uncommon, and has rarely been reported in the literature. The present report describes the case of a 74-year-old male patient who initially presented with an adenocarcinoma that had invaded the antral mucosa. Computed tomography then revealed the presence of a suspected GIST, in the form of a ...
متن کاملThe preliminary experience in simultaneous treatment of rectal cancer and synchronous liver metastases with laparoscopy.

This study aimed to evaluate its indications for one-stage surgery in laparoscopy. MATERIALS AND METHODS Eighteen patients with rectal cancer and synchronous liver metastases, who had undergone laparoscopic colorectal resectio...
متن کاملHand-Assisted versus Straight-Laparoscopic versus Open Proctosigmoidectomy for Treatment of Sigmoid and Rectal Cancer: A Case-Matched Study of 100 Patients.
To assess the efficacy of laparoscopic proctosigmoidectomy for cancer treatment, 25 patients who underwent hand-assisted laparoscopic resection during the study period (9/2006 - 7/2012) were matched to 25 straight-laparoscopic and 50 open-surgery cases. The patients who underwent hand-assisted resection had higher rates of preoperative cardiac disease and hypertension than did the straight-lapa...
